ICF definition of mentor coaching from their site:
The ICF defines Mentor Coaching as providing professional assistance in achieving and demonstrating the levels of coaching competency demanded by the desired credential level sought by a coach‐applicant (mentee). This consists of coaching and feedback in a collaborative process, based on recorded sessions. To increase the coach’s capability in alignment with ICF core competencies.
Mentor coaching should take place over a period of minimum 3 months. This includes 10 sessions with listening and feedback , while allowing reflection and practice in between sessions by the mentee.
While the focus remains on your mastery of the coaching competencies to deliver powerful sessions, I do believe in ‘coaching the whole coach’ and sharing the success strategies that work to help you develop your own unique identity, and practice as a successful coach in your market.

My mentoring is almost a one to one coach training aiming to solidify the foundation and structure of your coaching in a series of deep dive and collaborative mentor sessions that are rich, rewarding and exploratory.
My responsibilities during our mentoring relationship:
- I will help you strengthen and develop the ICF core competencies and bring structure to deliver effective sessions.
- Listen and give specific verbal feedback on your recorded sessions. We will discuss this together during the session, in a respectful, judgment free and collaborative partnership
- I will share demo recorded sessions that you can listen to for learning and discussion.
- Provide feedback on areas of strength and growth with my observations
- I will mentor around the skills you want to work on and discuss any real client challenges you face, in order to prepare you for the credential requirements and also build a masterful and effective coaching style.
- I will guide you through the application process if required
- Help you prepare for the final CKA test if required
- I will share resources and tools that may be helpful for your development and practice
- I will model the process from agreement to completion for your takeaway
- I will encourage and support the development of your own coaching style
- I will share tools from different coaching models if relevant
- I will allow you to lead in designing areas that will result in more powerful coaching for you
- I will inform you about the ICF code of ethics and the availability of the Ethics review board
- I will maintain confidentiality around everything shared between us
I bring all my knowledge and training and share all the resources you need during our alliance.
